Karen has been a textile designer and artist since 1972. Her primary focus has been weaving and fusing silk to make felt. She has exhibited throughout N America and has won awards for her work. Karen was the managing director of Treenway Silks for over 30 years. Her work in designing and developing new yarns, fibres, kits and colour palettes, has helped to expand her confidence and understanding of fibre and colour. A quest for knowledge of all aspects of silk has taken her throughout Asia researching the history and heritage of silk traditions. She is the author of numerous magazine articles, an educational poster about the life cycle of the silkworm and a silk fusion video. The cloth, culture and people of other countries as well as the life in Karen’s garden are the source of her creative spirit. Her recent retirement has given her more time for observation in her rich, diverse and nourishing environment that will be translated through mixed media in her studio. Karen travel teaches sharing her approach through lectures and workshops.
