“Jerry Davidson comes from a family of artists, and although he is self taught he was greatly influenced and encouraged by both his father, a painter, and his brother, a commercial artist. He works in a variety of media in a highly realistic style often combined with an element of whimsy or ambiguity. His paintings and drawings have been sold through a number of public and private galleries in Canada.
Jerry maintains a parallel interest in photography. He has photographed some of the major ballet companies in Canada: the National Ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the forerunner to Ballet B.C. He has had several illustrated articles published in photo, dance and travel magazines in both Canada and the United States, and is the author of a popular book on photographic darkroom technique, published by Pembroke Publishers of Toronto.
A former military and airline pilot, he has also had a long association with the air show industry and was a team photographer for a number of years with Canada’s famous military air demonstration squadron, the “Snowbirds”.
Jerry has lived on Salt Spring Island for the past 30 years where he works out of his home studio.”
